new york fashion week, day three, part three

Reem Acra
The Reem Acra label is always the epitome of class and elegance. This year, full length gowns were shown off in an intimate setting, set out for full viewing. Playing with a multitude of colours, gowns in chiffon, satin and taffeta were seen in either strapless styles or high necked. Acra’s previous history in bridal wear is what brings such strong tailoring to his evening wear. There are certainly a few numbers that would be perfect for Oscar wears next year, such as the mauve Champaign toned number and the strapless wet-looking black gown.

Tuleh
Another classic American designer, Bryan Bradley, puts out a classic feeling collection every season. The designer for Tuleh will soon be launching his own self titled label, but for now, his creations for Tuleh are enough for me. A designer for the ultimate uptown woman, Bradley’s designs depict class and sophistication, no matter how many colours or cuts he used in his collection. But, true to classic form, a knee length is always, always in style.

Victoria Beckham
I do not like the Victoria Beckham line. I am just putting it out there. But the clothing has no interest whatsoever, and it seems as if all the models pose exactly in the way Victoria graces red carpets herself. The shapes for this collection were all looks I have seen before, most notable on Victoria herself. However, there were a couple show stoppers, mainly the floor length black gowns. And I mean that. All of the floor length black gowns were stunning. Everything else didn’t hold my interest in the slightest.

Y-3
Y-3 doesn’t typically carry the most wearable pieces, but the Fall 09 collection, now including children’s wear as well (we always knew it would go there), contained pieces that were one hundred percent street worthy. Seriously, I don’t think there were more than two or three pieces that I didn’t think would dare the streets aside from the uber fashion savvy. Starting the show off in a mass of black and grey, blue soon followed with the introduction, later of orange. I don’t even understand how orange became such a great colour, but if you’re blonde and blue eyed, some of the Y-3 pieces’ll be perfect for you for fall 09.

Much love,
s.
